With the spread of the coronavirus and its related consequences gradually amplifying within our community, we wanted to reassure you that everyone at Montfort is working diligently to guarantee the continuity of essential health care services.
To ensure the safety of our patients and employees, Montfort has taken additional steps to fight the transmission of COVID-19 over the past week.
In accordance with guidelines from the Ontario Ministry of Health, we have adopted a plan to postpone elective surgeries and procedures, as well as the operations of certain outpatient programs and clinics. We have contacted all patients concerned to provide necessary information regarding their care.
The reduction of activities in the operating rooms and other areas in the hospital will allow Montfort to be prepared to receive potential cases of COVID-19 as the situation evolves.
Although visits are no longer permitted, the emergency department remains open. In addition to caring for patients, Montfort is working to find solutions that protect public health while maintaining the provision of exemplary care. Being aware of the anxiety and loneliness resulting from the ban on visitors, we have activated telephones and televisions in all patient rooms, free of charge.
Montfort is closely following Ottawa Public Health and Ontario Public Health guidelines. We encourage you to do the same. The hospital also publishes regular updates on its website—on the coronavirus information page.
