During the pandemic, the Emergency Department was severely affected, having experienced a great deal of stress due to the loss of employees. The 3C medical unit acquired a blanket warmer to better meet patient needs by reducing the trips employees had to make to other floors, where these devices are located, to bring warm blankets back to their patients.

The Arjo Sara Stedy is a device that enables the safe transfer and movement of patients, providing better ergonomics and quality of care for patients on a daily basis. Unlike the EZ Turner and Sara Lift, this device offers greater support and participation, and meets a real need at the Hôpital. Patients who have been served by this device are very satisfied with it, even saying that it preserves their dignity during transfer.

The creation of an additional rest area is one of the initiatives implemented by the Employee Projects funded by the Foundation.

Purchase of two garrots for the operating room

Thanks to a donation of $30,000 from Ms. Claude Chapdelaine, a long-time donor and friend of the Foundation, we purchased two garrots for the operating room. These devices are used to interrupt the circulation of blood in a limb during surgery or in case of hemorrhages, in order to ensure a safe procedure.

Butterfly indicators

This butterfly-shaped indicator alerts staff about to enter a patient’s room that the patient is at end of life and that there are grieving loved ones inside.

24/7 Crisis Nursing Program

Implementation of a new 24/7 crisis nursing program in the emergency’s Psychiatric Emergency Zone (PEZ) thanks to a contribution of $60,000 from RBC.

Nursing Week

The tireless work of nurses was recognized thanks to contributions of $2,000 from the National Bank, $2,000 from Sunlife and more than 500 gift cards donated by Tim Hortons.
