Following a recurring request from employees and clients at the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub in Orléans, expressing the need for an improved food offering, Dominique Gagnon, the Foundation’s Head Business Initiatives, responded diligently to this request. Aware of the importance of creating a pleasant work environment, she launched an employee survey to identify their preferences.

After analyzing the results, she set about finding a supplier of fresh, quality coffee that would meet the expectations of the Hub community. The result was the collaboration with “Jiffy – European Style Coffee”, a small local company run by Ukrainian-born owners Petro Pogrebennyk and Kateryna Bondarenko, who found refuge in Canada in the summer of 2022, having fled the war following the invasion of Russia and chosen to join her husband, who had arrived in Canada in the 1990s.

To mark this event, Dominique met Mrs. Bondarenko at the Hub during the arrival of the new vending machine and to ensure its smooth operation. The meeting allowed employees to discover the faces behind their new favorite source of caffeine. The owners bring with them a cultural and culinary richness that is reflected in every cup of coffee.

This new food offering at the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub not only satisfies a simple demand, but also helps support a local business and promote cultural diversity.

Coffee drinkers should note that 15% of the revenues generated by this business initiative will be allocated to the Hôpital Montfort’s priorities.
