The Montfort Foundation’s first Donor Recognition Evening, presented by Chartwell, held at the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub-Orléans, was an outstanding event. Representatives of the Foundation and the Hôpital Montfort were able to extend a heartfelt “THANK YOU” to the more than 150 friends and loyal donors who gathered for the occasion.
At the event, Dominic Giroux, President and CEO of Hôpital Montfort, shared his vision for the future. He emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to support the hospital in its mission to provide quality healthcare in both official languages, and highlighted the importance of consulting with the community and donors to develop the next strategic plan for 2024-2028. This strategic plan will guide Hôpital Montfort towards its 75th anniversary in October 2028.
" Let's remember the past, celebrate the present and build the future, "
Dominic Giroux, CEO of Hôpital Montfort.
Dr. Thierry Daboval, Chief of Staff at Hôpital Montfort, also took the floor to warmly thank the donors whose generosity enabled the doctors and midwives to achieve their clinical, teaching and research objectives. Their donations have contributed to the constant improvement in the quality of care offered to patients at Hôpital Montfort. He also spoke of the next major project, the renovation and expansion of the nursery in the Family Birthing Center, to add at least ten beds to promote skin-to-skin care, breastfeeding and attachment.
Robert Rhéaume, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, highlighted the generosity of our donors by listing the significant campaigns that have led to the acquisition of a CT scanner and the construction of the Aline-Chrétien Health Hub-Orléans, an emotional moment marked by a big round of applause. Mr. Rhéaume recalled that the Foundation is constantly innovating with initiatives for employees, such as the “Employee Projects” program, as well as a new Loto Montfort 50/50 lottery for the public.
The speeches were followed by an interview with Lise Parent, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Montfort Foundation and donor of her time, talent and treasure. She shared her childhood memories of working at Montfort. A piece of history that delighted and touched the audience. She reminded us how important it is for businesses to make a commitment towards health for the well-being of their employees, customers and the community in general.
Finally, Peter Hyde, a generous long-time donor and patient of Hôpital Montfort, shared his story. He expressed his gratitude and explained how the excellent care he received at Montfort was essential to his recovery and that of his wife, and how this inspired him to support Montfort as his parents in Montreal had done before him.
Finally, Victoria Newark, Director of Regional Sales, and her colleagues from Chartwell Retirement Residences, the event’s official sponsor, took to the stage in French to express their pride in partnering with Montfort for the occasion. This is the first time the two organizations have partnered, and according to Ms. Newark, there is a strong desire to repeat the experience and support Montfort in its initiatives.
The Montfort Foundation’s Recognition Evening was a meaningful moment to celebrate past achievements and look to the future. It reinforced donors’ commitment to the Foundation’s vital role in supporting innovation and the development of integrated care and services at Hôpital Montfort, for the benefit of patients and their families.
